Perfect Rocket Retro Boots

Tucking the jeans into boots goes way back into US western history and they did it for a reason. When I rode up to the Arctic Circle I tucked my pants into my boots most of the way. The primary reason is that it kept the cold air, mud and rain from going up my legs, which is the reasons that westerners wore them that way back in the 1800s

And of course there was William Bonny or Billy the Kid as he was called.

Odd as the boots we bought from Gaslolina have a leather flap that fits agains your leg so the metal zipper never touches you.
So did the boots I had. Fine for riding but as soon as I had to walk anywhere I was stuffed. Had one pair where the zips even wore through the leather flap. The most comfy pair or rear zippers actually had no flap - maybe it's the flap?!

I would rather wear good Hiking/Hunting boots. Usually they have fast lacing or even the BOA system. Generally ime more comfy and as often as not better made than "motorcycle" boots. I know nobody who owns a pair of Altberg Hoggs that would go back to "bike boots" - though Altberg still make "bike boots" as well. They were a major supplier to the police.

I will be wearing these today. Chiruca-ICELAND 02 GORE-TEX - Caza Chiruca

There was a time when my bike was my only form of transport - Gear had to work and be comfy - if it looked good it was simply a plus. I rode almost daily in all weathers - even on ice (unwillingly). I still have the waterproof gear I bought back then in the early '80's. It doesn't fit me any more but it's still 100% waterproof. Rukka. Bright Silver.

I have a very high instep and EEE width, which makes boot fitting a challenge at best.
The first pair would not allow my instep to clear enough for my heel to get inside.
They made me a new pair, saying they were not able to stretch the leather instep enough.
A snug entry, but once on - very comfy.
For me Gore-tex is a must for long travel boots, hence the Daytonas.

Phil,
I have Red Wing boots I got in 2004 and wore for 12 years and 102,000 miles and I still wear them on my Dirt bike.
They are Gore-tex and water-proof. Excellent boots, but heavy and not good for much walking.
My Daytona Boots are super light weight, Gore-tex, water-proof and comfy as street shoes. Can easily wear them all day walking around.

So you got the Daytona's to fit eventually?

A couple of my uncles from the old days . . .
Langlitz still makes some leather riding breeches like the ones in the second picture with the flared leather around the thighs. I'm not sure I can go that retro?
