All plugs out and filter off. Drain 1 hr. 5.5 qrts + new filter. Don't even look at the stick. I use Mobil 1 Synthetic which is very clear and hard to see but it does read. BTW is oil bad even if it's still clear transparent after a 5K interval?
Manufacturer recommends 10,000 mile changes - same as Mercedes Benz. In fact, MB even allows up to 30% (3,000 miles) over that - which would be enough to drive all the way across the USA to get home to your favourite MB dealer. :D

I am sure that the number of lawyers looking for work Triumph has allowed a good safety margin with 10,000 mile intervals.

I do not trust dealers period. Bike has seen a dealership one time and that was one time to many.:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

do u realize how much work it is to drive that bike around the block and recheck the oil:banghead:
and it seems like they hire the best 18/19 year old mines they can find, but the problem with that u have to have a master mechanic watching them all the time. i know this because i would spend all day saturday fixing there screw ups. one Saturday i decided forget that.

I do oil analysis on my cars and my highest recommended was on my srt6 at 9700. I dont think I'll ever go 10k let alone on a bike with a wet clutch

I want to know what 6 is?
Yeah a lot of you guys know how to fix cars or bikes, I am not that good but being on this forum you guys have thought me a lot but sometimes I just need to bring it in,
I like to once in a while bring it in to have a check up:)
Good thing I did , they put new brakes on back.
And I didn’t even know I needed them , so that’s a good thing.
I got 37,600 miles and I’m lucky to put on 2,000 miles and I still always change my oil, I'll just do my own oil for now on.

Here is the skinny!
Most of you know that the rocket engine is a dry soap system.
I have had two different brand of motorcycles each with the dry sump oil system.
In order to properly check your oil level:
1) Wait for a full moon.
2) Start a fire.
3) Inbibe abottle Of your favorite spirits.
4) Remove all your clothing.
5) Dance about your fire whilst singing praises to John Rockefeller Sr.
6) Stand your motor perpendicular to the ground.
7) Dance about fire once more while engine cools for one hour . . .
8) Now check level for you are a dip-stick!!!
The alternate option is dump oil, replace filter, add 6 quarts synthetic oil.

Like? Care to elaborate on the specific problems it will cause?

In a car it gets churned into foam and destroys the engine. My experience in motorcycles is it pushes out into the Airbox making a mess and potentially ends up on the ground. Not sure on the rocket

well i think we need a volunteer to put an extra quart over the ***ll mark to see what happens.
if nothing happens u can try another quart. now if enough drops out in front of the rear tire it might be like having an automatic.

I drain the oil, change the filter, put 5 qts in. Start it and add another quart and I'm done. The dealer probably didn't know it takes more than 5 qts. Most cars don't run as much as 6 qts.
