No 'good will' repair for 2008 R3

My expectation of getting a goodwill fix on a ten year old bike is about the same as my expectation of living to 100. Hell... it's hard enough to get a bike fixed under warranty now days let alone being 10 years old. I had to go a couple of round with a dealership and put a call into Triumph to get something fixed on my first 2013 Rocket and that was 6 weeks after I bought the bike new.

I though I could get a break because the miles were low. Hey life goes on right?

Sounds like you got a good bike for a lower price- so this is just one of those trade offs then

No big deal, my 2005 with 59,000 miles, has the oil tank leak (seep). I have the "O" rings, just too lazy to take off the intake, to remove the oil tank. When they get to leaving a spot on the ground, they are just marking their territory. Kinda like a dog pissing on a fire hydrant.

You're not the only one who has the rings and have not installed them yet. It seems after I ordered the rings the oil seep quit. Now it started back again... I'll wait a couple more weeks... it'll quit again.

So, my bike just ran out of warranty in January. I cleaned my bike a few weeks ago and noticed the dreaded VALVE COVER GASKET, not head gasket, leaking. Triumph did cover the Repaire for me.

I think the 10 years is a more important factor than the 6690 miles on something like a head gasket, it probably dried out from sitting unused. Worst thing for a car or bike is sitting unused for years, IMO.

Just the time factor with condensation, not being run, possibly freezing cycles, etc will do more damage than riding it. Far more.

The only thing worse than buying a bike with high mileage is buying a bike with exceptionally low mileage in my experience and opinion. There are those rare owners who keep their bikes maintained even when they don’t really ride them, but most just park it and let it rot. It’s sad

I must admit that Triumph stood by me when my ignition switch started to go belly up and the bike was five years out of warranty, my local dealer sent them an email and they sent the gas cap, seat assemble and switch to me free of charge all I had to do was install it, first time in my life I ever said thank you to an Englishman.
