Just a few pics for posterity. Btw, putting the wrist pin circlips in with the liners removed (not the way I did it) must be very difficult. Easy on the bench. TDC is on the money.

The Carrillo rings are a very close fit. About .002 tops and .008 2nds. I opted to install as is per instructed. Its too tight according to the manual......

So far my aging eyes have been the only challenge.

Btw, those gears are like....super slotted! IDK if Carpenter does them or Megacycle, but wowza!

It allows the inlet and exhaust overlap to be fine tuned by tiny amounts to get things exactly how you want them.

The cam gears are slotted to time the cams,. The cams Carpenter uses are not drop in like factory cams. This have to be dialed in timing wise.

That sounds kind of odd. No offence but can you explain. I figured A new cam chain and all would cover it. As long as the marks lined up at TDC on first cylinder.?

So, the stock cams are timed using the tool Triumph designed to hold the cams timed at TDC. This tool is only used for stock or what is know as drop in cams.

The cams for the Carpenter kit are timed differently than stock, making the Triumph tool useless for these cams. The slotttled cam gears facilitate advancing or retarding cam timing. The marks (arrows) on the cam gears for me are now not used at all.

What I am using for cam timing is valve lift at TDC in overlap (end of exhaust stroke beginning of intake stroke).
