Pretty pointless post imo. Extras should be acquired based on the following:-

• What do you have?
• What do you want?
• What do you therefore need.?

For example why fit new headlamp wiring kit to a new roadster - it comes with one from factory.

There are options on that list that are, simply put, superseded (or made unnecessary) by other options.
If you will never do your own maintenance - you wont need TuneECU even.

I am, for example, VERY FUSSY about lighting. I make some of what I want because it's not out there for sale. I am right now exchanging mails with a M/C lighting mfr in Taiwan as their LED lights could be better - I asked a basic question of them, they seem interested in what I want and have initiated correspondence.

If it's about bolt on "part of the crowd" extras - I'm not sure you're on the right forum. We're mostly fiercely individual about what we like and do.

Tell us what you have and what you want - somebody will be able to tell you what you need.

Pretty pointless post imo.

Bordom often creates much of what many would concider pointless. I however don't think this is pointless. There are shortcommings of the Rocket III. A new owner might not know that there is a solution to a problem or even be aware of the problem until the problem overwhelms them. If I can help one person be proactive instead of reactive and regret doing something earlier, I have not only reduced boredom, I have established a line of karma. Case in point: The headlight wiring kit. The eastern beaver kit might keep someone from being stranded with a weak battery that wont crank the starter since there is too much pull from the headlight.

These werejust a few things I wish I heard about over 3 years ago when I became a member and started 'individualizing" my bike.

I am not one that likes or encourages needless banter on a forum, but your post was pointless. I'm sure the want/need/availability statement is a very attainable conclusion many can come to on their own. I haven't posted in a while, and this is my attempt to be a more active member.

On a more positive note, I am very interested in what you have to share about the LED light product. Is this a new headlight? If so, I've been wanting to upgrade the Rocket's poor headlight for some time, but the 5.75" replacements currently on the market are very few, expensive, and are often HD branded.

At this time - to the best of my knowledge - There is only one company manufacturing LED headlights in 5&3/4". J.W.Speaker. They also make a lot of the OEM Harley lights. All the 5&3/4" for certain.

There seems to be a Philips/Truck-Lite tie in with each other - maybe due to the LED die used. But only 7". Aux lights there are many more options - but their legality in some countries is doubtful. No I'm not always legal.

The Taiwanese - well it seems they may have underestimated market understanding and the competition. They've hit the BIG Achilles heel of Power LED's - Heat. They're using a very valid LED die choice (exactly the same as Audi use) - but have underestimated WHY people want LEDs and what the competition is putting out. There are higher efficiency dies. I could make better lights using off the shelf parts and a lathe. What I'd hoped for was an inroad into a different dispersion route - but not at the expense of usable light.

My answer was meant to provoke thought. Why - because I've seen too many posts from folk who've read OLD threads - made conclusions - and it's based on superseded info. Example? - Until end of September 2013 there was only one real filter arrangement that fitted under the bearclaw. There are 100's of post on them - But it's certainly suggestible that they are now superseded - certainly that an alternative exists. it's imo the bane of the internet - old info. A definitive list (imo) cannot exist as long as progress does.

The things that have made the biggest difference to me are, in the order I fitted them:

> Exhaust (TORS) and Staintune cat bypass.
> dual touring seat. Single OEM seat was horrible. Ditto the pillion pad.
> ISO grips, oval mirrors, clock.
> GiPro + ATRE. Biggest single improvement both for convenience, usefulness and performance.
> intake (triple K&N and removed secondaries).
> Dobec TFI. Let me realise the power that was there.
> Rider's backrest. Can't imagine riding any distance without it now.
> Stebel electric horn.
> headlight relay and driving lights.
> Bridgestone Exedra Max rear tyre. A revelation.
> high intensity headlight bulbs. Will do LEDs soon I hope.
> Cobba's intake - single biggest improvement after the GiPro. Love it.
> Dennis Foran exhaust - next biggest improvement, both sound and performance.
> Stebel air horn (to replace Stebel electric horn).
