- Triumphs, but no Rocket just now.
Well I dropped my bike into the dealer this morning because it sprung an oil leak the other day from the head gasket. This had recently be fixed (few months back) under warranty so I assumed it would be the same again, especially as the gasket had a bit protruding from the previous work. This hinted to me it might not have been fitted correctly, but I never thought much of it to be honest (until it started leaking).
Dealer just called and said it would NOT be covered this time because of the mods I've done to engine.
He referred specifically to pod filters, removal of secondaries, something about removing the speed limiter and also the Dobec. These he said had caused excessive crakcase pressure and that had blown the gasket out and that he wouldn't be able to ask Triumph to cover it.
Cost will be about $300.
Hard to know what my options are - any advice?
I was going to mention something mildly amusing but I'm not in particularly good humour so it's more a winge now. I asked for loner bike and they gave me a Roadster!! Not quite to yippee moment I expected though. It's a Sachs Roadster 650.
Maybe part of their strategy is to make sure I want to get my bike back so quickly I won't die in a ditch over who pays for the repairs.
F*** it.
The only up-side is I get the bike back today.
