So at $16, these grips were pretty much what I was after, looks wise and feel wise, having had similar on other bikes.
As you can see the end cap comes off revealing a rubber end that can be trimmed.
I set to putting on the passenger side, knowing it would be much easier:
Not to bad, pretty straight forward install. Super tight, I used hair spray and they were “just” able to be forced on. No chance it rotates on the bar.
Start on the throttle side and here’s what I found after cutting off the stock grip:
Currently have all the nubbins removed and working on “tolerancing” the tube and the metal collar on the replacement grip to allow it to slide on. It’s close, will post pics of the way the tube ends up to get it to fit.
The challenge here is Triumph used high impact nylon for the tube, so sanding it is almost useless.
In the the end I just bought Rizomas, but the ones above could be made to work with a little effort:
