Enlisting Mufasa for Salt Duty

I believe I've found my divergent weave root cause. Still doing new bearings today for good measure. Zero play in headstock, but I'll have a set on hand + tools if it persists.

Funnily enough, I had the steering damper cranked to max when I lifted the front end, the revised mounting point nearly doubled the force exterted on steering, so that's a big win.

The actual balance point is with the visible wheel weights at 4:30 clock position.

Again, a dealer demonstrates they're trash and not to be trusted.

Will be buying one of these to avoid putting my faith in "mechanics" in the future:

I should temper my frustration with, I'm sure they spun balanced it on a machine, so it may not be the techs fault. The over torqued axle though, someone didn't take 30 seconds to check a torque spec, and that is on him.

Something showed up early ... Again

About 1lb lighter than stock each, absolutrly beautiful. Not for Boneville, but gorgeous all the same, at $162 each they're a steal compared to what cost just a few years ago (300+ each)

Need to clean the grime off tonight, replace bearings, and reassemble. Fingers crossed this solves the issue...

Just an idea
What would it hurt to a little preload on the adjustment of the front forks.
It ain't like it is going to wear out with a few runs.

Not sure I follow what you mean, like strapping it? As it is, the front is so small I'll likely end up raising the triples back up + a bit to reduce forward rake. In my head I somehow saw the 125/70 being taller....

How to spend 3 hours being phenomenally pedantic:

Scrub the wheel grime off,ount the rotors and
balance the rotating assembly to within 2 grams.


GPS/POD300 hard mount parts are here, tomorrow will be mounting those up, test ride to check high speed stability and assuming that's good, I'll have to burn off what's left of the fuel.

Mechanically I'm done. Few odds and ends but this is Mufasa's street trim once tires are swapped over to DOT legal tires.

The adjustment of the nuts on the triple tree
I forgot what the manual says.
Something like you tighten it to a certain torque then back it off to zero preload?
Well just tighten it up till there is a slight dtag (so there is no possible way it can be loose).
