A question for the group. I will be purchasing a set of engine guards but I don't quite like the looks of those in the Triumph accessory catalogue which they list as front dresser bars. They curve in at the top and then drop on the inside to meet the attachment points. It seems that I saw an aftermarket set recently which attached higher on the frame. Does anyone have any experience with these, or an opinion as to which is better? I'll be mounting highway pegs on them. Mike

The triumph ones will not hold pegs. You can bend them with your hand. That is unles sthey improved them in teh last year. i went with RIVCO and they work for me

Jethro and Goliath, thanks for the advice. I had never really heard of Rivco until I bought the header covers. Nice stuff. I'll check out their web site. I believe those are the ones I saw earlier. That Triumph would sell a set of flimsey guards is most disappointing. It seems that the idea is that the highway bars are supposed to protect bike and rider. Sheesh... Mike

If I may also presume, Captain Gasket, I have had nothing but positive experiences buying Rivco products from www.newr3.com. These guys have gone the extra mile for me in the past and I highly recommend them (no financial incentive, not married to the owner's sister, etc.)

Ah but that is a fine web site Capt Pinky....I am beginning to think that I might have erred in buying the Classic Tourer. There appears to be sufficient array of aftermarket parts which would allow one to more personally configure the Rocket. I am looking hard at those handlebars. I find the touring bars not quite to my liking. Another option wold be the bar backs...Hmmmm...I'll have to give this some though. The engine guards are definitely in the near future though.....

I wenet with leather bags. i found some very large bags that I used easy mounts to put on bile. Great when you have to wash teh bike. easily removed.

Goliath, the Triumph leather bags came with the bike and they are very roomy and of fine quality.

You live in a beautiful area. I most enjoyed riding the Blue Ridge Parkway when I lived in Virginia and have travelled through Ashville many times. I'll be riding through on my way to Virginia in May.

I took the time to search the rest of the accessories forum for additional comments on engine guards and I am absolutely amazed. It is hard to believe that neither Triumph nor Rivco can fabricate a set of decent engine guards. I recently dropped my Electra Glide in an intersection and the engine guards did not budge at all. In fact, they and the floorboards protected the bike from any damage at all. The only thing that got skinned up were my leathers and boots. Hopefully Triumph will do something about this problem...
