Darkside Review ride

I am 228. might start at 28-30 then try up and dow 2 psi at a time and see what feels best.

OK gotcha!

You will not like it at first. I didnt but after a few miles and lower air I am happy and will not go back to a M T.

I'm preparing myself for that "let down" so it might not be as bad. I just to keep in mind that I'm saving at least $130 on the deal, more if I add up two MC tires to one CT, can do a burn out and not feel as guilty about tire wear and my billfold, and get more mileage out of it. Did I say that already but in different words? LOL

I will go on record to say that I have mentioned somewhere in the world wide web that "I will never put a CT on my motorcycle." So if any of you see that don't laugh to hard. I might not like it and switch back soooooo..... we'll find out.

Light Weight!!!! start at 28psi I doubt you want drop it any but if you do I'd be suss about going below 26psi I'm 240pound and run 34psi solo 36psi with trailer and missus:cool:

I think what Darksiders are after is for CT to flex flat against the road instead staying up rounded in the curves. If that just made any since.

Just remember, give it some time. Lower the air pressure until it feels mushy. Then go back up about 2 or 3 psi. Dont ride hard yet. Get the feel for it. I believe that you will grow to absolutely love it. It took me about 30 miles to get the feel after I got the pressure right.

Will do... take it easy there and the beginning.

Nolton is right on the mark there I am a rather agressive rider in the corners and used to hate the metz spun up excessively when putting the hammer down coming out of the tighter twisties, the CT has always insprired convidence in the same situations now it starts to lift the front comming of corner or at least it did till just recently, the edges are getting a bit slick and while still gripping well in the dry are starting to creep and spin up under heavy throttle but I also have done 15000 km's giving her heap for a cost of $280.00au as opposed to a low 6000km's taking it a bit easier on the Metz at a cost of $450.00au
The only adjustment you really need to worry about is that being a lighter weight rider, at lower speeds around walking pace and just above you will probaly find the bike following every bump but given you now have the knowledge of it and tackle these situation prepared you will get used to it and on the open road as nolton said keep your tyre pressure mushy low and gradually build it up till the mushiness disapears and confidence grows. just remember to eat your Wheaties and you'll be right oh and then of course there is that massive counter steering you will be doing according to some it actually is only slightly more than you had to do with the Metz and in fact you won't even notice it after a hundred miles or 150 km's but a lot of the steering issues are solved by getting rid of the front Metz.... Some guys have found the Avon Cobra to be good I have not tried it but will swear on the Shinko (formerly know as Yokohama) 757 radial, It not only turns in like a demon but at only 1/3 of the cost is also giving better milage you. At the end of the day You must decide as these are only My impressions based on my riding style

You will have to increase the psi in the front tire also. If you dont the flanks will start to cup. Run the psi that the tire has as max or about 3 psi higher than what Triumph recommends on the tag.
At slow speeds the CT will lean with the road surface. This is a real problem when backing up. Just be prepared. It will feel like the bike wants to tip over.

Well its official.... I'm on the Dark side... cant believe it.
Takes a pit more "pushing" turning the bike,,, great on the straight aways like I figured. I cant say I don't like it and cant say that I do. Ive got the air pressure at 28 psi right now and have not increased air pressure in the front. Yet.

Well if you dont hate it then the air pressure is very close.
Keep changing it until it feels normal then work on the front tire.
Congratulations !

I know it might go away but I can "chirp" second and third gear. LOL
I will recheck the psi in the rear tire because yesterday it was 96 degrees .... so the tire will be cold "as it gets" this morning.
I will also raise the front tire air pressure to 37 psi which is 3 psi more than what Triumph calls for on the front tire.
I could not find max air pressure on the Metz.... it has to be there somewhere but I couldn't find it!! Look again this morning.
