CAT Delete/TORS

Now I'm back to one of my previous questions. With the TORS and the Triumph CAT delete pipe is the TORS tune from Triumph worth the cost if one isn't ready for an aftermarket performance tuner, or just for go the TORS tune until a tuning module is in the budget?

If you can use TuneEcu or Tuneboy there is a perfectly good custom tune for just TORs and cat bypass. It is called 20050dynofinalmap_tor_catbypass_decel

It was made by Wayne McDonald at Tuneboy. It has the secondaries open 100%, speed limit raised, speedo corrected, fuel tuned up, L tables modified to reduce popping, O2 sensors turned off. My R3 was dynoed at 140 hp, 150 lb ft with this tune.

TORs tune will be OK but not great. You will find it a little lean; even more so if you remove secondaries and worse still if you add triple filters or even under tank K&N. I still have the TORs tune in my bike but I've fixed the lean issue with a Dobeck TFI. Retune is another option but not the route I took.

Thanks hanso. In order to download the Good Wayne Tripp Tors Tune don't I still have to buy something to communicate with my bike's ECU?

Hey canberraR3, Thank you for the info. Is the TFI unit simple enough that even the mechanical/electronic technology challenged can get it right?

I don't see any tune on the TuneECU site by Tripp's for TOR's/cat bypass+triple filters. Those tunes are for Jardine exhaust. I suggest that download the TuneECU program for free now, turn it on, see what the tunes look like. Get the cable for $20, hook it up to your bike and download the tune I suggested. Tripp also has a tune for that setup (Power-TrippR3 TORS underseat.hex) so you could compare them. It's very easy.

TORS on order. Dealer already has CAT bypass/delete kit. Even though TORS have been discontinued they are still out there new from select dealers.

Sorry mate, must have missed this. Yes, it's dead easy to install and simple to set - just a little trial and error to get it right but if you've ever tuned a carbie you'll be fine. Flick me a PM if you have any questions.

Did they stop making all tors or just the older three pipe version ? After market and Triumph OEM accessories seem to be drying up for these bikes. That's not a good sign. :(

I have a set of TORS and a Upgrade crossover that I am considering selling if anyone is interested PM me..

I recently fitted Staintunes and have ordered baffles so I won't be needing the TORS anymore, too loud for Japans noise regulations :(
