Battery Tender....sorry if this has been discussed, but:

if i lived i an apt. i would have two batteries and keep one on the tender. of coarse u would need one that was self contained.

Myself I've never used one. I charge my battery twice a year when I think about it. I have not been nice to it this year because I needed its trailer to haul lumber. Its sat out side for 3 weeks now one week of 15 to 20 degree weather. The rest just around 32.

She fired right up today. I fooled it and shut off. Because its not real good in snow :D

Looking for a tutorial on accessing and charging the battery on a '15 Touring.

We got a nice, upper 40 degree day here in Northeast Ohio today and thought I'd fire it up, but it's just turning over slowly. I don't want to ruin anything with repetitive attempts.

So now, I sit here crying because it won't start. Woe is me...

Seriously though, I'm about as mechanically inclined as an eight year old accountant. Any pointers from you experienced folks out there?

Install the Triumph accessory socket or similar in the left infill panel, makes it easy to plug in a battery tender.

I use the Triumph brand charger (made by Optimate). It works extremely well, cycles, tests, and keeps the battery in top condition. It also comes with the small plug used with the Triumph receptacle. Costs a little more but keeps my battery running strong. I also have a few Battery Tenders for lawn mower, dirt bike, and go-carts. Which also works well but they only trickle charge the battery. Research the Optimate and you will see the additional benefits it offers over a plain trickle charger.

I'm going to second the Optimate. It has way more features than a battery tender and it's all I use now on my bike and generator. I've burned through at least 4 battery tenders down through the years and they just don't seem to last. I also plug mine into my bike power receptacle.

Even keeping it on the Optimate, my battery gets replaced every 3 years. Unlike some who complain about starting issues (only to discover it's their battery) I don't want that grief. It's not like a car battery...they just don't last as long and the beast need a good battery to start.:banghead:
