Bolted them on in the parking lot. After going to NAPA, to buy a Roloc sanding disc rig to make it clear the final drive housing. The file I carry in my tool box would have taken half a day. A LOT had to come off.

Thanks I may fit one of my Progressive set ups to my R3T and keep the Fournales for my Roadsters that have a different drive shaft/frame angle when fitted and will hopefully clear without surgery.
It would appear to be due to extra meat to eye required for spherical bearings.

With the additional grinding, any concerns with structural integrity of the shock eyelet under stress?

My line of thought also. I'm not a mechanic and most on here have forgotten more than I know about these things although it does appear the integrity is somewhat compromised here.

A lifetime in the metal trades, fixing machinery and bikes since 9YO. I wager my life, and my beloved wife's life on every part. No worries.
