Actual Touring Gas Tank Size

I just looked at the specifications for the R3T and the tank size is 22.3 liters. That converts to 5.89 gallons which mean the tank size is just as it should be. I'm not sure where you got 6.9 gallons, but that is grossly incorrect. With that said, I can still travel further than any other riders I have ridden with. 175 miles is no problem on my R3T. I usually fill mine up before 150 miles just for a margin of safety. I make a point never to run out of fuel for the obvious reason, but fuel going into the cylinder has a lubricating and cooling effect on the cylinder walls and pistons. My brother actually squeeze/scored a piston on his BSA years ago by running out of gas. It's just something you should never do.

I usually top of around 150 just to be safe. Not an enthusiast of running out a few milea from available fuel.

something not mentioned here is that the fuel pump that is in the tank needs to be submerged to be kept cool. The more times the fuel pump is not completely submerged by gasoline the shorter pump life will be. Even in cars it is better to fuel up before the tank is emptied below 1/4 tank.

+1 on that

I just ride, I'm getting about the same as most folk here, around the 200 to 220 miles inbetween fill ups. As I stop approximately every hour for a rest anyway, I try to line up my second Stop at a pump at that point.

If I wanted outstanding mileage I'd bought the trophy, my Budy I wide with gets close to 600km. Inbetween fillups

Bull don't let it chap you get the wax :D

Just returned from a two day ride leading a group of 12 around the WA Loop and it's STILL THERE waiting in case of emergency.
Since Montrose, I now use beads and they feel so fine and smooth I doubt I shall need the wax. :p  :inlove

Chris, 40.75 was my best on the Carpenter kit at RAAX but I was riding mildly and enjoying the mountain views. No doubt I would have gotten better in the flat lands like Illinois. But to be honest rarely do I ride without ripping the throttle to some extent :)

Still love the horse Power!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've NEVER gotten over 35 on my stocker!
