A Hanso Success Story - The Sequel

Just took it out... it's a little rougher than it used to be, but I'm guessing that's from the auto tune learning still. I haven't noticed much of a power increase actually but it seems to be plenty fast still. It does make a noticeable chirping/squeaky/whistle type of sound from the triple k&n when you throttle it which I assume is normal??

Also 5th gear seems to have lost a little something... seems like a mix of slower response time and less power.

Sounds like you may have missed doing something like clearing previous PCv trims or resetting ECU adaptions possibly. Did you give it a good run ?

It started out with 0 trims and has adjusted them... I cleared them and reved it some in the garage, but haven't been out for another ride yet and here's what I got in the trim so far.

I took these screenshots after I turned the bike off which is why I think the error indicator is showing red. I was thinking that it seemed like a lot of trim for the 2750 rpm of -20 which is the max it is allowed to trim.

Anything special I should look for in the ECU?

I also removed the secondary butterfly valves in the throttlebodies... was I not supposed to do that?

Well said Dennis those are my thoughts exactly
As Dennis said and I indicated in our numerous e-mail exchanges it is important to read the TuneECU user manual and on the last page it tells you the secquence to follow To Reset The Adaptives, this is Very Important Step when put a new or revised tune in to the ECU

the sceen shots indicate to me that you have only done very few miles, My advise is to firstly connect up the TuneECU cable and follow the Reset Adaptives Procedure then go and ride the bike and don't even look at the PCV-AT- AFR Trim table till you have done at least 100 miles then Acept the Trims which will become your Fuel table and at the same time reset the afr Trim Table to all 0's and then ride the fuc#er another 50 miles, if it is still running rought send me the screen shots of the Trim table and the Fuel table via E-mail, Oh and by the way a -20 is nothing to be concerned about you will see them from time to time it just shows the AT is doing its job you were probally using a light throttle

Yes it improves the air flow, not that you or I would probally notice it but without the plates in there causeing drag the air can move faster

I think the resetting of the adaptions did it. I didn't know that step was needed and so skipped right over it. It only took about 5 minutes of idling for the TPS light to turn green, so let it go for another few minutes just in case since the manual said it should take 15 mins. After resetting the adaptions, it was running much better. Took her out for a ride of about 10 miles and I can now tell a difference. It has noticeably more power and the throttle is smoother with the PCV than what it used to be with stock... no more dips and rough areas in the rpm.

I went though the reset process and it made a huge difference. I will ride to work a few days (~80 miles round trip) and then follow the steps you mention. Should I be taking it easy for the 100+ miles or have fun with her?

while Staying Alive would be helpfull and not losing your licence another, apart from that enjoy and ride to your own limitations but go steady till you find just how hard it will go believe me she will tear your arms out if you ain't carefull and I don't want the bill from your plastic surgen either for the face repairs from grinning too much :D

...believe me she will tear your arms out if you ain't carefull...

If I was sitting in a more upright position, I'm sure it would feel as if I'm about to roll off the back of the bike, but with it being a '11 R3R and the pegs in the more sporty position and more importantly, the handlebars still stock causing me to lean forward some, it's not too difficult to hold on at WOT. One of these days I plan to get the bar risers and I expect to have a different feel to the bike at that point... may need to get a backrest at then to prevent me from rolling off and watching the bike ride off without me. :)
