What are the other 2 for?

@rjkusse
All the levity even confused me . . .
Just in case it did you as well:

Hey @warp9.9 . Do you have a picture of the inside of the later style oil pan ? I'm wondering if they also drain the oil from under the screens (like the early ones) which seems dumb to me. It keeps you from draining the skita out with the old oil.

Then there is a corner Market on going your own dumb way :)
Yes the newer style also drain from the screen area. All I can figure is the change made the sump have a pick up port on Both sides of the engine verses just the right side.

First the old original 04- early 05

Now newer style mid 05 and up.

Thank you for posting these pic, unravels a bit of the mystery for me regarding the oil pick up and return from the oil tank without taking the sump off, they are nice castings :thumbsup:

Hey Great Job guys!! This is why I joined this forum. I enjoy the fact that I have "solid" R3 brothers that will help me understand the mechanics of the "Rocket". Fingers knows me: has ridden, broke bread, and laughed at my ineptness of the "mechanical misunderstanding" of the ART of working on and knowing about bikes. Brother Fingers, my RAM-Air will be coming across the pond, and either you or me will have to make a "road-Trip, so "we" can put this on my bike. Then I got more questions that I could read about on this forum, but we do it in person around the "ride". I had agreat time at Biketoberfest, where a handful of us RAFers met at the Daytona Triumph Dealership to meet-n-greet and just share the "Steely-eyed-Rocketmen" stories. I locked in for BIKE WEEK, and look forward to the RAFers and my fellow RAAers that surely will be there.

RJKusse-- I also own a '01 VALKy Interstate, and when I drain the oil--- one plug and a FRAM oil filter, use 10w40 "car OIL (Castrol High Performance) all in all about 15 min turn-around. It takes a little longer on my R3T, but it makes the ride that much sweeter. I love the Rocket--made it a "single-saddle", leaving bike tires on it (for now), so I can ride fast and low under the radar. My wife says I have to keep the VALKy so we can ride together occasionally, besides she has "drank the coolaid" on the and loves the stability and safety of the 205's on the VALK!!

Keep tuning in Brothers. I upgraded my stock illumination kit to LEDs (3) separate light PODs purchased/installed for $800. www.twelvoltledhid.com and facebook and youtube. my bike is the 08 Triumph Rocket 3 Touring TUX model. Let's meet up at BIKE WEEK in El Daytona in March!!
