Ok, my local bike shop have lent me a cable - ZOOBEK.COM, says KKL VAG-COM for 409.1 onthe back.
I have tuneECU ON my laptop
I have the light fuse removed, ignition turned on (and killswitch) and trickle charger attached.
I have connected the usb to the lead, and connected the laptop to the bike.
BUT all I get is a message to say that it can not connect to the ECU
What am I doing wrong????

Ah, that will be a no then, where would I get that from?
Loading the drivers correctly is not necessarily a straightforward operation. Depending on the windows version, it will automatically load a driver which may not be the right one. On the TuneECU site, there are links for drivers:

Virtual COM Port Drivers

Go down the page and choose 32 or 64 bit depending on your computer. The driver version is 2.12.18. Create a folder on your hard drive, save the drive zip file to it, then unzip the zip file. If you have windows xp, you have to install Framework. There are instructions below the driver link.

Here is an instruction sheet for installing the drivers:

Hi guys, I am still having problems connecting to the ecu
I now have my new lead
My device manager shows that I have the drivers installed- USB SERIAL PORT (COM4) under ports
USB SERIAL CONVERTER
DEVICE MANAGER says device is installed correctly
I plug into the bike, turn on ignition and killswitch and start the connection but all I gey is the flashing red light bottom left and after about 29 seconds a message saying check connection and switch off and on the ignition
Can anybody help before I throw the laptop and burn the bike!?!?!?!?! PLEASE, , PLEASE, PLEASE
