albertaduke
former airline pilot without the big bucks
I looked inside the box where these parts are being replaced and I cannot see any of the possible damages you mention .. thanks for reminding me BTW here are pictures of both bearing being replaced the big one has a bunch of balls missing and of course the cages on both side the small one has an out of true spec you can see how far out the inner race is from the outer . I am sending this to triumph and give them my honest opinionwell i take my hat off to all of you..
you need to check where the bearing surface is and remove any burrs that would keep the new set up from going in(if any). a fine file or sand paper will work. i would use a mirror to check inside for left over debris, especially stuck in the teeth of the gears. also i would buy a can of cleaner to spray in there it might blow out debris(use safety glasses) some one might be able to tell you how to spin the rest of the gears to look for debris.
in the racing trans we built if they have an aluminum pan we epoxy a heavy duty magnet so that if any problem arises it will pick up the debris and not let it go through the rest of the gears.
i think it is about time to pull the bottom pan off of mine.
i am proud that every one stuck with it and was able to succeed.
