Congrats Patrick, the hard stuff is all behind you now. It will go back together much easier. For the record I did not remove the throttle bodies when I lowered my motor, in fact I did not even take off the filters.

I feel so much better tonight !! I agree the rest will be easier..I will ship back those fancy tools asap
BTW BOTH bearing were shot, the rear one wiggling loose and mounted backward and the front one had lost two balls and the pieces I found in the oil sump were from the big front bearing as I wrote earlier if triumph had used TIMKEN needle bearing we would not have this conversation
nevertheless there is a standing invitation for plenty suds whenever you guys come around but I leave calgary oct 03 sold the house I want to ride more than six months a year so no more snow for me, my options are southern B.C (penticton)for part of the year and buy a condo in equator at baya de caraques and bask in 80 degres temp all winter or move to france in the southwest part, where lots of great properties are at bargain price but wherever I drop the suitcases there will be bed and beer for all the guys that helped me.
well i take my hat off to all of you..
you need to check where the bearing surface is and remove any burrs that would keep the new set up from going in(if any). a fine file or sand paper will work. i would use a mirror to check inside for left over debris, especially stuck in the teeth of the gears. also i would buy a can of cleaner to spray in there it might blow out debris(use safety glasses) some one might be able to tell you how to spin the rest of the gears to look for debris.
in the racing trans we built if they have an aluminum pan we epoxy a heavy duty magnet so that if any problem arises it will pick up the debris and not let it go through the rest of the gears.
i think it is about time to pull the bottom pan off of mine.
i am proud that every one stuck with it and was able to succeed.
