.................... One thing not mentioned so far in this thread is that anyone putting a car tyre on their bike should at the very least ensure their insurance won't be affected. No point knowing someone else is OK; check your own policy/insurer.

To my mind the most important consideration and one that is ignored by darksiders, no disrespect intended to darsiders but that's how it seems to be.

cardinal93, you are located in Germany, yes? Dont they have very strict type approval (TUV) rules, you wont find any car tyres that are approved for fitment to a bike.

One other point, the Bridgstone Exedra Max is not available in Europe as yet - the 240x16 Bridgestone tyre fitted to the big Suzuki cruiser is not a Exedra Max and according to Bridgestone not suitable to be fitted to a Rocket.

Yes the Deutsch have very strict TUV rules...however, there are some exceptions and agreements in place for those of us American military and I think it might be possible. I searched our agreements and didn't see anything strictly prohibiting it and to be honest, since we have a "separate inspection" site, I've noticed they're not as "knowledgeable" as the standard TUV inspectors. I could probably get away with it, but I think I'm gonna wait until I get back to the states to try anyway.

I'll order the Exedra Max from the US. Another benefit of being US MIL over here is if it ships USPS to our APO address, there's no German customs issues. A very nice option! We tend to buy as much as we can from the local economy, but if there's something I absolutely can't find, I'll certainly take advantage of that option. There's a guy in the next village over who will mount it for me.

but one can be shipped to you if you desire in a box if needed. Oh and if the regular excedra is available its not a bad tire either most likely still as good as the cobra. TTS ships stuff everywhere ans some of the boxes I got could almost hold a tire.

Not sure how they do it, but I often see tires in the APO post office when I'm getting my deliveries. They're not boxed and from the looks of it, most of them are truck tires/mud tires which are very hard to come by here in Europe. Next time I'll ask the guy to tell me the shipper. I've sent an email to Chaparral and Bike Bandits to see if they ship APO. I do know it will take 6-8 weeks, which is why I'm ordering well before mine are past the point of keeping me upright!
If all else fails, the box option is great. I can have them delivered to my dad in the states and he can box and forward (maybe). They've gotten very strict regarding batteries, aerosols, etc., and I know most companies that do ship that type stuff internationally have to pay a hefty contract agreement and put all their MSDS's on file, etc.

Well if there is a way to get a Max it would be a good choice by all accounts - I certainly would give it a go if I could.

A opinion is only valid if the person making the stated opinions has in fact based the opinion on personal experience not hear say,

Interesting. Does that apply to everything one might offer an opinion, or does it only apply to tire choice?

For instance, many offer opinions of things like homosexuality, abortion, religion and many other controversial subjects. I would suggest that most offering those opinions are not in fact basing their opinions on personal experiences, but rather basing their opinions on other prevailing facts, evidence, and even experience of others they respect.

Perhaps we should go with your opinion, that only opinions based on personal experience are to be allowed. It would sure curtail a lot of the discussion on controversial issues.

So if your opinion base on fact is having sex with a man is better or right don't expect me to believe it nor try it. I don't care how much of a expert/ opinion you think you are or how many miles of burn arse you have :D

Last I checked this was a motorcycle forum not a sex chat room.

To be totally honest I don't hold an opinion on nor do I don't give f..k about other people sexual preferences as long as they don't try to involve me in their activities, I like I am sure quite a few here have friends whom are Gay but they know my policy " don't hit on me and won't hit you" they are still normal human beings in every other way so I don't stress about them
