Firstly Welcome
As Mr Hunt said the Heat is Triumph's way of saying get a move on you are going to slow
Also a new Rocket while still tight will be getting a little hotter too and also as mentioned by Idaho they are lean from factory once you are ready to extract a bit more from her We can help you find the solution which will also make the big girl run cooler :)

When my Roadster had the original mufflers on and the stock tune the headers glowed red right back to the footpeg when I road it at night. Probably did the same thing during the day to I suppose. Changed the pipe and tune doesn't glow red anymore. The factory must set them up to run lean and hot to meet emission standards somewhere.

custom

The custom dragon graphic would look really cool on the pipes.

I realized that the bike was getting pretty hot. Now I know that ALL bikes get hot pretty quick but I was wondering if the R3 usually warms up that fast? Is it supposed to be getting that hot?

First welcome to the forum. Lots of good information here and kindly folk (mostly) who will happily share their experiences and expertise. First bike?

To control the heat coming off the engine...ride faster :D

hi
i had a mud bogger that the magneto slipped and retarded the timming and after a 3 second run the headers glowed bright red all the way to the tips of the collector. i think it was from unburned gas.
maybe thats why they run better because they put more timing into it?

Careful, Amigo. You will soon have the pot smoking homophobes back on your ass!

My response to the initiator of this thread is . . .
Do you realize you have straddled a 140 cubic inch high performance tractor motor???
Sit on top of your Pinto engine and see how that feels. :D

Well put. Both points. ;)

Engines are heat pumps, the bigger the engine, the more heat. You have the largest production motorcycle engine in the world.
