Well I went out today to test my latest self-inflicted mod, Rad insert. All went well so I thought I'd snap a pic before I pulled off the Right shroud, (thus the loose screws). Please no comments on how nasty the bike is, you have to ride when you get the chance this time of the year!
I may try some other designs, I've seen some with slots etc. Made it from polycarbonate, (lexan), that should be plenty tough. Thoughts?
Thoughts? Yea, I've thought about this now and really think its a cool design and looks right, that being said,
what about the big openings, could you maybe put much smaller checkers in it to break up the flow,
and still achieve the 1 off look you got going AND still protect the rad.
If not smaller "diamonds" maybe little circles or wavey lines,
something to protect that expensive piece from grasshoppers, rocks, and road debris.
Now, do I like it?
Have you even got to ask, its beautiful.
I like it Lonie, and along with most of your creations should be considered an offering when showed. Put me in line for one, But you could personalize by putting names above and lowering the RIII logo. Just a thought. But then again Mr Law's ink wouldn't be dry when he handed you your paperwork either.
Looks good but how is effecting the cooling? Just wondering if it is blocking any of the air flow over the radiator or enough to make a difference. Come summer and temps in the high 90's I don't want to be on the side waiting on my watercooled bike to cool.
ok, Thought about it some more.
Little circles or wavy lines? That just sounds gay.
How about micro squares, say 1/4 the size of the other ones.
or
How about 3 layers of lexan with a semi permable backing
Semi to let the air flow through, and a backing so you (or someone)
could drill holes in the lettering (come to think of it, it could come with the holes) to install leds for a visual high point.
