Stopped for gas and bike won't start.

Check battery voltage under load.
Some times they just suddenly go and have enough to spin the motor but not enough voltage for the ecm.
I have a brand new battery in the closet. Just for the occasion. Almost three years on stock battery but you never know.:cool::cool::cool::cool::cool::cool:

Welp. It wasn't the battery. Here's the sounds that are coming out if it:

Any suggestions? Fuel pump?

If it is the fuel pump, any advise on replacing it? I haven't gotten a factory service manual yet, and there are no Haynes/Clymer books for it and I can't even find any info on youtube. There are videos of about any repair or maintenance you might want to do to every other type of motorcycle out there, but precious little on the rocket. Alls I know is that it's in the tank.

Likely never. PO never replaced it and he had it from year 2/6K miles to year 9/16K miles. I doubt if it was replaced before then, and he had no issues other than a bad battery and a speedometer.

I've had it for 3 months and have it up to 20K.

Do the headlights dim or go out when you push the start button? Sounds like bad ground. Maybe start relay or solonoid. On and on.... good luck and be sure to let us know the outcome. We all learn from one anothers experiences, good or bad.

Yes check and clean all connections, at the battery and the starter and think about doubling up on the negative wire or replace it with a larger size awg wire.

A new battery needs to be charged on a real charger for a few hours before being put into service!! The battery should have a date on it when it was built.

Cleaned and double checked all battery connections - they were good and clean already. Headlight dims when it cranks - and it does crank, it just won't catch.

sounds like its not meshing or the battery hasn't got enuff grunt.....is there any way you can maybe put it in gear, have someone give you a good push down the drive and drop the clutch...not to start it but rather to move the flywheel a tooth or two???? then try starting again....

Guys, he said it cranks, but just won't catch. I read that as the starter is turning the motor over but the beast isn't firing up. Is that correct?
So we can skip the starter issues. Two things we all know, gas and spark. I would start with FRESH gas and a new filter, or bypass it for the test. Then the pump. You could always hookup Tune ECU and see if the fuel pump passes it's test.(pretty sure there's one-can't remember off the top of my head).
