Hi . i just bought 2005 Triumph Rocket 3. love it . just got one problem. speedo and rpm not working. nor indicator light. in fact only thing that works on speedos is alarm/immobilizer light, and oil light comes for a second when i switch ignition on. anybody had same problem. all cable connections greased and look ok. not sure where to start.
could anybody help me?
thank you

Check the fuses. After that check the insides of the speedo and tacho for water or dirt. They are a pain to put back together but it is doable with a bit of patience.

btw welcome to the site.

Hey Ian, have you had one apart? Any internal pictures?
Mine resets the odometer every time the battery is disconnected. I wonder how the memory is designed, battery, cap, flash?

Regards,
Tom

That's really several problems but possibly the same cause.

I'm with skip - start by REMOVING complications like the immobiliser.

Then go here http://www.cuppabella.com/Service_Manual_R3S_C_T.pdf download the manual and wiring diagram.

hi. today checked fault codes. and one code present. P1500. i think it's engine speed sensor. am i right?
could it be the problem?
thanks

Will the engine start ?

If not this could be worth a try.

If the instruments don't go through the self test, needles swing full scale then bike goes into start mode, try replacing the front of the 3 relays under the lh side panel, ie a headlamp relay from a Rover 75 works as it's a standard relay. That one is the ECM relay, then there is the fuel pump relay which works after the ECM one and gives electrical motor sound just before you can push the button to start. I can remember what the 3rd one is as it's so many years ago that I had this problem on my 05. You can also prove which relay is faulty by swapping them and seeing if the problem moves.

Obviously, if the bike starts it's something else.

The accessories fuse can stop the instruments working if it's blown, check it especially if you have the clock and fuel guage.

engine starts and bike runs ok.
all fuses ok. and needles do not move at all. tomorrow will try to check all wiring.
thanks for your help
