R3 Touring Auxiliary Power Socket

Has anyone purchased an Auxiliary Power Socket, part number A9938047? There are no pictures nor discriptions availble. I'm interested to know where it mounts. Can anyone help?

On the ole timey Rockets there is a cut out just in front of where your left leg would be when riding. It's on the black plastic, but not sure if the new fangled Rockets are the same.

Go to your local NAPA or whatever and buy a $4.00 cigarette lighter style power outlet. It will plug right into the wiring harness but the hole in the plastic that Snuff described will need to be trimmed a little bit. I've been running one now for about two years and it works great. I usually use it to charge my cell phone. I'm going to bring GPS along this time too.. Which reminds me, I need to order me a GPS mount really, really quick!

You'll have to show me how you got yours hooked up. Is it wired direct to the battery?

There's a plug behind the plastic piece for Triumph's outlet. The cigarette lighter/power outlet I bought has the exact same plug, so it just plugged right in. It does have power withtout the ignition being on.

Do you remember what brand, or do they all have the same plug?

I believe it's a pretty generic plug. It's a two blade plug, with one vertical, and the other horizontal, just like the letter T. I don't even know if there was a brand on it.. lol. I just saw that it had a rubber boot to keep rain/dirt out. I didn't even know it would plug right in until I took the plastic panel off. I was ready to go to the battery or tap into a hot wire, then I saw the plug and was like WOW..

Is that the black plastic piece that has a cicle the size of a 12V outlet? (That I should have figured out for myself)

The OEM Powerlet is a BMW plug. Not a standard US cigarette lighter plug. The Powerlet will require an additional adapter at an outlay of nearly as costly as the OEM part. Go the cheap route and follow the leads above.
I expect the New World Order will standardize all, eventually.

Here's how I did mine. Makes a great place to plug in a Battery Tender since it is powered all of the time.
