I know some of you have fitted the PCV with Autotune. How do you find it & is it worth the money for the Autotune feature. Thinking of getting one before this stupid European law comes in to effect.

I got one today fitting it on Saturday hopefully

EDIT..

All fitted Everything went very well and the Bike Runs really well..:D
I have to admit I used the K I S S method incase I had problems :)
So a couple more Mods the Cat delete which is on order.
Then after the Japan trip Ill get the triples, then the ECU tunes can go in..:D

Too right it is, I was pretty proud of my efforts of adjusting the AFR tables in TuneECU and even thought with a bit of dyno time (very expensive) would have got it spot on, I would then have to do it all again once I get some mods to the exhaust in the next week and all going well later this year some pistons and head work not mentions cams I would have to do it all again and again and each time I put it on the dyno to get some AFR readings that's another $175 now all I have to do is to set my AFR tables for where I want Power or Economy and no matter what changes I do it will self adjust the tune to suit. That and the fact I lve at sea level and go inland up over the mtn a lot it will allow for that also. Already have found the bike alot smoother :D

Good to hear you got yours,a walk in the park ;) if I can help at all with info such as ideal AFR settings let me know have you got my mob# if not PM me yours and a good time to ring please do not ring on this Saturday as I have to do a double Saturday evening and night so will need as much sleep as possible, cheers
Hans
P.S the instructions on using it are ok but could have been better more info on net than in the box

I thought that the Autotune feature would keep everything in tune without needing dyno time. So for us lesser mortals what do we do with TuneECU, do we just load the appropriate map or do we need to alter the settings in the cells. If so how do we get to know what they should be.

yeah with the Auto tune you don't need to go to a dyno unless you want a dyno guy to set up certain performance / economy parameters, the PCV comes set up with a good compromise tune and acouple of model specific tunes are down loadable if you have a TuneECU you like but want the PCV to refine it, instead of going to a dyno (where all they are going to do is set up ideal AFR tables to suit your needs. There is also a ZERO tune on the PCV download site which I am about to use because I have done a printout of the TuneECU tune's AFR table and I am going to transpose (type in) it in to the Zero Tune's AFR table there by giving me a the ideal tune.
A little while ago I took my bike to a dyno paid $175 to have a set of AFR figures done on the bike I then based my adjustments on this info, the AutoTune is doing this at a rate of 192 times a minute, he mentioned the base AFR's was Good and the Ignition tables were also good that I just needed to richen the F tables to suit the AFR's and I would be spot on .... well gues what that is exactly what the Auto Tune will do once I write the AFR table to match my TuneECU AFR table.
In short load the appropiate TuneECU map and copy the AFR Table over to the PCV AFR table and let the Auto tune do the rest:D

Hanso, Thanks for the PMs, I am starting to get some understanding of the PCV and Auto Tune function.

A pleasure .... "Knowlegde is only Knowlegde if IT IS Shared" ... that my friend has always been my lifelong motto one I used to say to the many apprentice bakers I have passed the trade on to and asked them to remember so they might pass it on
