tuesday took the beast for it's 10,000 mi. service and they found a small oil leak more of an oil weep. it's comming from the head gasket left rear. bike is 8mo. out of warrenty. does anyone know if this is something that triumph might cover? they said it would be very $$$$$$ to repair because the engine must be removed to do the repair.
i wish my old dealer was still open might of caught it sooner. new dealer took awile to get in contact with (2mo) they were going to try to get it covered by triumph but didn't know.
2tone you might get lucky with Triumph since its so close to warranty. Also your dealer is wrong you can change the head, cams, pistons, rods, and liners without pulling the engine out. If they don't know this you might want to take it to another dealer wo has experience working on Rockets.
Pommy engineering generally. Had an XJ6 that needed one of those large shallow oil pans with a layer of sand and sawdust. Took up half garage floor - well a tenth maybe. I'd kept it from the Morris Minor. Was too big for the Mini. I got it originally from my brother's father-in-law who'd had a succession of Rovers. Gave the garage a real authentic automotive smell too.
Hi there twotone 18 months the very same thing happened to my 2008 touring and it was covered by triumph as my mechanic said it was due to no lube applied to the back head bolt and it picked up whilst being torqued so didn't get the full stretch on the torque to yeild bolts. The dealer replaced the head gasket and all the head bolts and they did it without removing the motor. Your dealer is trying to take you for a ride.
