Yes Purolator changed the head shape to convex and it no longer seals tight enough to not leak. These newer filters are mostly painted red now. If you can find some of the old ones that are white or yellow, they should be concave and work well. When this change over happened a few years ago, I went all over town to the auto parts stores and riffled through the stock on hand to find the old ones. I got about 10 or so from doing that.
