Luggage rack WITHOUT passenger backrest??

2014 RIII Touring: I want to install a rear top case, but need to keep the luggage rack installed and remove the passenger backrest. I just found that the backrest posts serve as the nuts for securing the rack.

Are there any inserts available to mimic the backrest posts, short of cutting them off and being unable to reinstall the backrest in the future if desired??

I bought an extra one to do that, but never did it, I'm not sure if it survived the move, I I'll look and see if I still have it

Leave them there/reuse them, they aren't that big and aren't in the way.
