Long Haul seat vs Corbin Dual tour

Seats are very subjective. I had both available Triumph seats for the R3T and found both too soft.

Corbins are hard seats and take time to break in. You either like a Corbin or you hate it, doesn't seem to be any in between. I've had a few of them and they work for me.

If you want what most consider to be the most comfortable seat available check out the Day Long by Russell, not pretty and not cheap, but very well made.

I prefer the Triumph touring seat for the 07 classic's with the drivers back rest but must admit I have over 60,000 miles on them and have not gave any otherone a chance. I just sent one off to be covered with alligator hide and hope I have not changed the comfort. We shall see as it is do to arrive tomorro evening. To be honest its hard to recommend one as you just have to have time in the saddle to decide what you prefer.

One major factor is how big a boy are ya. I had the Triumph dual seat with the rider backrest and it hurt. So I sent it off to Rick Mayer for a custom upgrade. It still hurt.

My problem is that I'm 300 lbs and the Triumph foam is just too soft and I ended up sitting on the pan after just a short while.

I've since gone with the Corbin Dual Tour and have been extremely happy. Long rides are not an issue anymore.

I have the Corbin too and find it very comfortable on long rides. I just wish it locked on instead of being bolted. Longest day for me was 700 miles from Maggie Valley to Port Huron on the Canadian border and still could have gone farther.
P.S. I weigh about as much as one of TD's legs.:D

Do a search for Bobby K's post on converting the bolt-on mount to the standard mount. I haven't done it yet either but it's on the list.

You and Warp are in the same boat. I should have clarified further. If you are a normal sized person, you have a choice of either seat. If you are of rotund nature like myself, you're only option is the Corbin.

Dave (Scot in Exile) also has a Corbin and is a not a heavyweight like me. He puts serious miles on his Roc.

^ Nice! Thanks to TD and Bobby K. I shall be attempting this before the season starts here. We are close now as most of the snow is gone, just need a good heavy rain to wash the salt and sand away and a few more degrees.

I'm 6'2" 180 lbs. and I much prefer the Corbin. You don't need to be obese to like hard seats. Soft feels better after 50 miles, but after several hundred they tend to lose their appeal, for me at least.

Oh, and on the R3T the stock seat bolts on, the Corbin locks on. I agree that the keyed access is much better.

As anything, it pretty much comes down to preference. But I will have to say that the basic principal behind motorcycle seats is this...
Any seat that simply stuffs the seat full of material that fully compresses, will eventually leave you sitting on a hard surface. This is because no matter how soft or how much material they use, when a constant pressure is applied (aka your ass for several hours) that plush, soft material just squeezes and collapeses on itself.
The Corbin, however, uses this closed cell foam stuff that does not fully compress, therefore, there's always room for a little cushion. So be warned, at first glance or sitting in this case, any other seat than the Corbin will probably feel more plush and comfortable right off, but after hours of riding the Corbin will actually form to your ass and not compress, whereas the other seats will eventually squeeze down to a no so very comfortable surface.
I've had my Corbin for about 10,000 miles and you would find it very hazardous to your health if you tried to take it from me:D
