Hey guys, so pulled the trigger on the kinetic grips... It was a *****, but was able to get it on. The clutch side was very easy... It was the throttle side. I was able to carefully remove the the rubber off of the throttle tube and didn't have to cut it, so I may be able to reuse if the kinetic didn't work. Once I removed the rubber, I saw what looks like jagged teeth to hold that rubber in place.
At first, I figured...ok... Spray some WD40 and slide it over...NOPE! Seems the the throttle tubing with the teeth is too big for the kinetic grips. I ended up grinding the teeth down and sanding the throttle tubing down slight and then was able to slide it on.. Would I recommend it... Probably not. They look good on though... I have to say. Here is the end result ( sorry for the mess in the garage ). Next is to put on the matching kinetic foot pegs!
Hey Claviger,
I just used the glue on the clutch side. But I would recommend probably doing it on both sides. I was able to sand it so it fits really snug on the throttle side. It wasn't moving. So only time will tell....before I'm needing the glue..LOL. Just be careful when you put glue on throttle side...you don't want to get any glue between the throttle tube and the bar. I've done that before..LOL
Oh, I also want to mention though that the kinetic grip (throttle side) is longer than the OEM throttle tubing itself..about 1/2" longer. Not sure how that would affect riding. I gather its from that "stop" marked in yellow. It prevents me from sliding the grip butt up on the housing. I guess if it does after the riding... I'll probably sand that down to side the kinetic grip further in.
