The bulb that I purchased is from China. It sure looks a lot brighter than the OEM bulb. Three other rocket owners around me now use them. I looked on EBay and it's called a h4 40w 6500k bulb. On dim I can see much farther and with a wider area than the OEM was on brights.

The problem is that's still completely illegal. And that wider area of light you see also affects the low beam, so everyone you meet will be cursing your name because you're causing so much glare.

The only legal thing to put in a Halogen reflector is a Halogen light.

The good option for LED is a DOT or E approved pre-built reflector with a LED in it, like Truck-Lite, Vision X or JW Speaker. They put the light where it's supposed to go.

I contacted a guy I know who works for MDOT. Your posting made sense about being too bright. After I explained the issue with the Engineer from the
he told me the Dept. has no issue with the replacement bulb as long as I don't add additional lights. I'm not sure that his statement qualifies him as a legal expert, but it made me comfortable, besides, I too stayed at a Holiday Inn West.....

I'm not sure what the h€LL happened to the first part of my response. What it should have said is....

I know a guy who works for the MDOT. I explained to him the issue of changing from a standard bulb to a led replacement bulb. See above....

A flippin' birthday candle is brighter than the OEM headlight(s)!
Get a 7" JW Speaker for the BEST!
Get a 7" chinese imitation for the next best.

I guess being a member of this forum is "time sensitive". I see the lemon pledge and slowly am starting to catch...on...to...the...logic
