GPS - What to use?

Bob,
Is there any drag on the battery from the OBDII connection after the bike is shutoff?

Not that I have seen. I have had my bike parked for up to 10 days with everything hooked up and it still started just fine. When I sent an email to Garmin asking about a parasitic drain on the battery they would only tell me the Nuvi was not designed for motorcycles. I did replace my battery this year, but I think that was just normal wearing out of the original battery after a few years. I can tell you 11.3v isn't enough to crank the engine over. :(

Good to know - thanx!

I have an old Garmin 250 that I have attached to my handlebars, and use a 12v cigarette plug to power. It's perfect, and has lasted my 2 last bikes.. more then 8 years! Was a whopping 120 bucks from tiger direct from their refurbed section. I've never been able to justify spending more then that on GPS's when they are so cheap these days. My other bike has a Garmin Zumo 660 which was just given to me when I bought the bike, that thing is like $500-$600 bucks... dunno who'd spend that kind of cash.

Gday Team,

Looking for opinions on GPS for the big girl .... What is the peoples preference and why.. Currently leaning towards Garmin... Look forward to the conversation.
cheers n beers
I have never had a problem with my Garmin NUVI. Fits perfectly in my tanks bag

I seriously considered the Tom Tom Rider, but couldn't verify if it would pair with my Sena smh10.
I went with the Garmin Zumo 660 and am now waiting its delivery.
Please let us know how it's going in a few months with that Tom Tom Rider.
Sure is a better bargain than ALL the Garmin Zumos.
Will do olbull. I am taking a 1500 mile road trip soon, should have pros and cons when I get back.

Excellent!
Have a great ride!
Once I receive my new Zumo, I shall report on it as well.

Thanks to al for the input - seems the Garmin may be the way to go - Sounds as if the Unit whilst expensive is user friendly - Has any one had issues with it at night - one gentleman I spoke with found it "too bright" and a distraction?

I do have trouble seeing it in daytime with polarized sunglasses.

Tis problematic seeing GPS in the daylight . . . period!
It's why I am ordering a new Zumo compatible with my Sena SMH10 for sound.
