I have a 2012 R3R.
1) Would I benefit from a Eastern Beaver H4 Dual Relay Kit for Rocket III w/Lo Cut?
2) Does it come with DETAILED instructions specific to the Rocket Roadster?
Gratitude,

PS: How the heck does one make the thread title BOLD?

I am not entirely sure but I believe that Triumph addressed the ignition switch issue during the 2011 model year. You should be fine and not need the EB kit.

I recall that Triumph only half fixed it with the Roadster, but can't remember the details. EB kit may still be needed to protect your ignition. There's a discussion on here somewhere, which I'll try to find, but hopefully Hanso will pop in and settle it.

You Rang!!
Richard is right they only half fixed it, where the EB Kit (and my version) solves the problem whereas the triumph fix merely moves the high load to the Hi/Lo dipper switch and while this switch will better cope with the load it is another resistance in the system and while the voltage drop is minimal it will still effect to some degree the brightness of the headlights and also because of the fact that this switch is very vulnerable to the weather it could also lead to the switch playing up.

To give you an example of the vulnerability of the dip switch, last February I was coming home in heavy rain and water got into the switch block and started switching the lights to Hi beam!! which didn't amuse oncoming drivers and I had to repeatedly flick the switch up and down to sort it this went on for 200km before I could pull into a dry area to clean out the switch block, it has since been flooded with Dielectric grease so hopefully it wont happen again

Just bring it down to Oklahoma lupe will help you

Well, SkyDog, it's funny you mention this because that's EXACTLY what I intend on doing.
I'd like to see as many Okey and other southern R3 jockeys as possible on my "Big Ride East" this June & July. Will arrive in Enid about the June 19 for a free flop at my cousin's place. I intend on doing NW AK, and South MO for a few days as well before continuing on to the Smokeys for a few days and then up to The Wall. I would enjoy pressing some north of the border Super-Mexican flesh on the way if possible.:D
Best Regards,

HansO, My Man!
Key words to me were, "(and my version)"! :D
Key word from me was, "Drongo" - I be weak in 'lectrics; but, I can follow a diagram.
I would like to have complete control, where I can turn the lights off before starting or at anytime thereafter.

Anything like that around, my Aussie Mr. Wizard?:D

Well if you can follow a wiring diagram and confident with a soldering iron, heat shrink and are prepared to cut wires !!,..... I could provide you with a diagram to make your own but first weigh up the cost difference and time involved the part you need are- two 30 amp 5 pin relays and relay mounting blocks (theses are basicly a plastic block with brass wire connecters that clip into them allowing easy changing of relays so you dont cross connect wires) , a 30amp weatherproof blade fuse holder 3 1ft lenghts of 20amp dual core wire and a 4 ft lenght of 30 amp dual core cable. Now you are probally asking why not get hans to make one for me and send it with fitting instructions but here is the crunch it cost me $47 for parts and the postage/shipping to the States would be aproxitmatly $20 I do not charge for labour (as I havent for the guys I have made them for here in Auss, I have sent 3 by ausspost interstate here at $7 postage) so you would still be looking at just short of $70 bucks so that would make the EB kit a better propersition for some one Stateside unless you were building your own

Great reply, Hans. I would never impose on you to do work for me for free!

Now, were I rich, I'd send you a plane ticket; we'd go shopping for the parts then install them on my R3R. I would require that you remain long enough for us to go for a good putt with me (perhaps Mt. Rainier, Space Needle, some west coast . . . You could ride either the R3R or the V2K. That would be fun!

Alas, I have not THAT kind of money to throw around. So looks to me as the EB - "H4 Dual Headlight Weatherproof Relay Kit w/Lo Cut" is the correct one. YES? Sure don't look like anything worth $75 plus $20 for a switch - but, oh well.

Has anyone done like a detailed sticky with photos on this?
Best Regards,

you do know that your starter relay turns off the headlight power supply as you hit the starter leaving only the little pilot lights on so why do want the light switch?:)
