DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.........

Yeah yeah.
I was thinking I'd like to remove something unsightly from the bike - which is way better than adding something unsightly to it.
Which reminds me. How is that screen coming along??? :whitstling:
Warp9.9 took it of my hands... give him some sh!t instead...

Quick fix for your mishap try some exhaust high temp spray paint. Before you try it do a sample first to see if it match...

Just a little bit drongo mate but happy to clarify. The heat from the headers is fine. Maybe a tiny bit warmer than the stock header but not really noticeable. They are hot to touch though and therefore will melt anything synthetic that happens to touch them. When I put my right foot down, if I'm not thinking about it my leg can brush against the header in, well, exactly where I sprayed the oven cleaner. The heat shield is to stop and more damage to my rain gear and any more melted plastic getting on the pipes. You may not need one.

Beg yours as I reckon that was a tad dill.
I never considered the shield had anything to do with the reason you sent out the photos in the first place!

Had you did the upper pipes you could have always went this route

You know the funny thing about that, Fred - actually it's sad, not funny - is that I considered getting a smaller sheet of ss, attaching it via the 2 screws holding that foot peg side cover and somehow curling it over the offending piece of pipe. I didn't consider it for long though, not even as a temp measure.
I think that would have really made @bruce aussie cry.

Bit of spray might not be a bad idea....

Those mufflers look good. How do they sound ? Tell us about them. Also, If you had only made them about 2 inches or so shorter you wouldn't have to take them off to pull the axle.

Dennis Foran pipes. Well known and respected Aussie specialist. Nice deep sound. Very distinctive. Smoother than TORs, better sounding, much much better quality and not as raucous as Jardine and louder but maybe not as mellow as Staintune. I like them a lot.

The tyre guy could just manage the axle out previously but isn't going to be happy now. Hadn't really considered that. Be too hard to shorten the left one anyway because the crossover pipe is close up to the starter as it is. There would have been issues on the right as well. Too bad; they look so much better now.

Were you boys fanging?

Ha ha. Yeah, we were fanging like I've never fanged before. That was the individual best ride I've had in over 40 years riding. Big smiles, as TC says.
