Decel Datalog Results

I think part of his problem is that the gas in Brazil is pure ethanol and they use different tunes than we do, sort of like the french and German tunes.

Ok so I got my jardines on today tripple k&ns with secondaries removed and downloaded the tune off of our tunepage thats setup for jars and tripples. switched off the box for o2 sensor and saved and downloaded, went for ride and absalutely loved her exept for the backfiring. I knew it would be there though so I came back and richened up the L-tables 10% and 15% like it said and took out for another spin and eliminated about 90 % of the backfireing but she feels like theres a leg off idle that wasn't there before. I was going to add another 5% to the tables to eliminate the popping altogether, but was wondering if I even should:rolleyes:

Watch where you add fuel to the L tables. If you add too much in the wrong place, low rpm will be too rich and cause bogging - soften response slightly.

Only add fuel at the rpm points where popping is occuring, and only at the MAP points where the engine is decellerating, not accelerating. It can be difficult to seperate the two.

Another thing about the Jardines and decel popping, MAKE SURE you do not have a leak at the head flange or at the collector. An exhaust leak will act like secondary air injection and cause popping. Then look at the amout of weld/weld slag and rough metal inside the header tubes - especially in the primaries, nead the head. ALL of this will cause hot spots that will act like a glow-plug in a diesel engine, and ignite unburned gases in the exhaust. A few minutes with a grinder and a few sanding rolls can help.

I have read a lot about decel popping I am now quite happy with my air fuel ratio it's a bit high at around 3000 revs but I believe this to be within limits. I have the TORS pipes & have recently removed the cat box & fitted a by pass unit. Although the popping is due to weak mixture, is the actual popping harmful, I don't mind it but is there a map that will stop it, I have read on this forum that someone has a map for it, I have PM'd Tom Hamburg who recommends 20219 which I already have but I'm sure that I have seen another map to actually combat the popping.

Try this tune. It has the O2 sensor box uncheck so disconnect the O2 sensor under the right cover.

Yes, this shows the connection from the O2 sensor. On my bike, the connection is under the triangular black over on the right side - it has three Torx head screws. make sure you have the O2 sensor box unchecked in the Tune then just disconnect the sensor and see how it runs. To keep the O2 sensor from fouling, you can then completely remove it from the exhaust pipe and put a threaded plug in the hole.
