Carpenters new pipe, heat shields required?

I hope your not correct. The original Carpenter pipes didn't come with shields, I think.

I finally removed the Brute from my Roadster. Too hot.

I've got a new product that Carpenter could sell. Since it appears that the old Brute exhaust and the new style are basically the same from the megaphone back, and the CNC milled header plate could be reused, Carpenter could make the new style tuned length header pipe for the Brute unit and be able to save their previous customers some money on an exhaust that seems to have solved the heat problem.

I have to back up and correct myself a little here the new pipe I mentioned in the previous post would work again for the roadsters but not sure if it would work on the touring or classics with the forward positioned foot controls.

They have heat shields for that pipe

Mine came with heat shields . Of course I got mine second hand but the orginal owner indicated that they came with the system.

CALL CARPENTER and ask them to send you the heat shields

I don't mind the welds not ground off. A good welder should get penetration but leaving them if it's neat gives more strength

I picked up a "new" 2012 Carpenter 240 Rocket on Saturday. Have burn marks on my jeans from the exhaust. I didn't notice it was hot, but I probably will get a heat shield of some sort.

I'd like to clear something up, are you saying the sidewinder runs cooler than the brute due to the difference in header pipe diameter or are you saying it's cooler because your leg is further from the pipe while it's on the foot peg.

I'm also curious to understand the performance advantage 2" pipe has over the smaller dia header pipe, obviously it breathes easier but does it benefit hp at the expense of torque for instance.
