Carpenters new pipe, heat shields required?

I have heard they got about 165 on a stocker. Mine come in slightly over 243HP.
AND also a big cut in weight at only 10 lbs compared to 63 lbs for the stock pipes that helps with performance big time
I stand corrected on the size. The quote that I remembered incorrectly was

However, I still don't like the obvious welds and the springs. It's just as well that we all have different likes and dislikes or we would all have identical bikes.
WELL WE could polish the welds and add flanges

Thanks for the pix! As with the CES there are NO issues when on the pegs.
If one needs to use hwy pegs off the engine guard, I expect that #3 will be trouble.
That might be true although the #3 header passes between #1 & #2 so it may work ok.

What is your impression of any power gains from that pipe?
My impression is that it makes by the seat of the pants feel of having unleashed a motor that is eager to run. But and this is a big but, the intake noise of a free flowing intake overwhelmed the beautiful exhaust note from the 2 1/2 baffle under acceleration. Once cruising the pipe sounds tough though.

I was going to just push the like button to confirm I liked the losing of so much weight, but I personally don't think the welds or the flange needs to be touched. And as for the springs I like the look. Makes me think I'm riding the workds largest Yamaha RD350 lol.

I picked up a "new" 2012 Carpenter 240 Rocket on Saturday. Have burn marks on my jeans from the exhaust. I didn't notice it was hot, but I probably will get a heat shield of some sort.
