What do you all make of this? It's so straight it looked like it could've been two pieces, but now I'm pretty sure it's cracked?

If so, I'm assuming it is part of the bevel box that is "not user serviceable", and the only proper replacement would be complete replacement (never gonna happen just for a cracked piece of plastic on a 12-year-old bike).

Is what's exposed underneath the splines between the bevel box and wheel, lubed with moly? So worst case is dirt has been allowed in and may have worn down the parts within?

If all of this is true, and any dirt wear isn't excessive, is it reasonable to do some kind of DIY patch of the plastic?

As you can tell, I have absolutely no idea what I'm facing here. Please enlighten me!

i don't think that is anything to worry about. at the bottom of mine there is a square hole that u can put your finger in it. might take a mirror and look at the bottom.

Uh, yeah… it's been a while. Since I'm going over the bike bit by bit after long term storage, I don't want to do an overall wash that might cover problems before I inspect things more closely.

Of course yes that means it went into storage filthy… :whitstling:
