Screaming Banshee - Loud Motorcycle Horns and Safety Systems is the easy way. Just connect the horn cables to it and a second power cable from the battery to feed it and boom.

It's not very pretty, though.

But a relay bypass is easy if you want to use any old horn. You connect the original horn cable negative and positive to a relay, so when you hit the horn button, it turns the relay on. Then you connect the new horn and a power cable to the relay so that it gets power when you hit the button.

The reason for that being that a big air horn sucks down a lot of amps. The stock horn button and cables aren't sized to handle a sudden 20 amp power draw.

I'm thinking of putting a couple of horns on mine. Literal horns, that is.

Something like this:

No, I don't have any of those on my bike, alas. Just tossing out possibles that aren't butt ugly or bargain basement. :)

Yeah, figuring out how to mount them and where is a bit of a trick. Hiding a large horn is is almost impossible even on a bike this size, so that's why I was thinking of going in your face and mounting something good looking front and center.

No mailing pics @euqene - post 'em here for everyone.

Do some searching on the site -- bunch of info on horns.

As for wiring ignition switch bypass, three possibilities come to mind.

One, a former Rocket captain did his own, and posted the results. A search will find it.

Two, Eastern Beaver is a guy from Canada who married a woman from Japan and moved back there with her.

Now mind you, if you're going to do the bypass, you really should also add connections to the battery with a connector block.

Our own member @DEcosse sells these, and so does Eastern Beaver. This will give you easy connections for future electrical mods you might make (such as a better horn).

So Number Three: If you purchase the block from @DEcosse, you will have obtained the bypass for the headlights "for free". He'll provide the relay and connectors -- you provide the wire and BINGO.

Anyone ever mounted a horn where the stock one is under the headlight? seems like there's a good amount of room there for a larger unit. Not sure how the aesthetics would be, but it does resolve the placement issue?
