Bear Claw Over Triple Filters

I'm sure this is somewhat ridiculous but fitting the bear claw over the triple filters seems next to impossible. The overflow tank has not been removed. I have turned the 3rd filter at an angle as described in other threads. Perhaps someone can explain how snug the fit should be. Should the filters be wedged right against the bear claw? Any insight appreciated.

I've got the RU 2780's so the one's that are supposed to fit under the bear claw. I'm going to go back and follow Scott's advice and see if they are all pushed down properly - pretty sure they are but doesn't hurt to double check! Any other tips welcomed!

You can do what I did and space the bearclaw out by 20mm,up by 20mm then fit a rubber moulding to the top edge (this reduces the chirping as well). This will also allow you to lift your tank without removing the Claw.

Thanks Gothlander - that may be the next step if I can't figure this out.

I went out and fiddled with the filters - moved them here or there a couple of millimetres. How snug should the bear claw be against the filters. Do you really have to push on the side with the angled filter while getting the screw in?

I have not had any trouble with mine at all, not sure how close the filters are to the BC but I do not have to force the bear claw at all to get it over the filters...

Thanks bonecarver. I recall you have the touring model don't you? And that has a smaller bear claw. I'm going to keep fiddling - clearly something is just slightly off...

But on the positive side - I finally have my PC5, triple filters and jardines fitted + secondaries removed. Just have to wait until tomorrow morning for the sealant to cure so I can start it up for the 1st time.

I really hope I don't have an exhaust leak somewhere. Was not able to get sealant into the joint between the left and right pipes so hopefully the clamp does the trick there. The anticipation is killing me! **** 24 hour cure time!

Just a thought.. are you locating that center clip in correctly ?

You have to sort of enter the little prongs into the tank clip first and the hinge the BC down.. if not it could be pushing the bottom edge into the pods and the bolt mounts don't sit correctly
It is fiddly sometimes :(

Thanks Dennsell - I can't believe putting the bear claw back on has become the most frustrating part of installing the triple filters! I usually put the center clip in first but now have tried putting the bolts in first in frustration. All pods appear to be down on the throttle bodies as far as they can go and last pod is shifted to the right.

I almost had it on once but found that the 3rd pod was quite snug against the bear claw to the point I had to push quite a bit to get the screw to go in.

Are folks with non-touring Rockets having to push the claw against the third filter to get the screws back on?

What a saga!
