Greetings Everyone,
I've been out of riding for over 10 years but my kids are older now and we are moving to the country and I regain my 3rd car garage. I've test drove two Rockets over the years but never bought one. I'd kind of given up recently, because I kept sitting on Roadsters and didn't realize the pegs were so much further back. I'm 6'3 with a 34" inseam so I need leg room.
I'd narrowed it down to Victory (Cross Roads or Cross Country), Yamaha Raider and now I'm back on the Rocket as I see that seating postion seemed unique to the Roadster. I never forgot the feeling of my helmet trying to come off my head from the torque when I got on it on the highway. Only a roller coaster launch is comparable from my experiences. My family also has a lot of British roots (even though this is as American as you get).

Unfortunately, all three of these bikes are absent currently in Kansas City.
I'm thinking of driving to Omaha and looking at these two bikes or this used one. I remember researching a long time ago about the older models having certain issues, but I didn't know what years they were fixed. Also, a bit confused on the models from 07-onward that aren't Roadsters (Standard, Classic, Touring).
Here are the three I have my eyes on. Any feedback on what to look out for would be greatly appreciated as I'm not mechanically inclined and am afraid of expensive bills from some of those previous issues.

Here are the competitors if you are interested in providing feedback on those.

Hello Quadzilla and welcome from Virginia. My niece recently worked at Dillions and says they are great people.
I have a 2014 R3 Touring like the 3rd bike. I've got 72K miles and love it. I put highway pegs on mine so those 10 to 12 hours are better.
Good luck

Welcome from Southern MD!
When I was looking I wasn't sure whether to go Roadster or Touring so I asked here too. I specifically bought the Roadster because I liked the pegs being farther back and I don't like floor boards. Sounds like you are just the opposite so a Touring sounds like just what you're looking for. There are several here who can call out all the differences between Standard, Classic, and Touring and what to look out for. I'm sure one of them will check in shortly. Nothing compares to the brute force torque of these beasts.

I’m 6’2” and chose the Roadster for the power and the less dressed out look. I did not need the windshield or bags. The Touring is tuned differently and produces less power and the Roadster is more of a naked cruiser. You can mount a crash bar on a Roadster and put pegs on it to stretch out a bit for a change of position. I was used to Harley’s and Indians that are footboard forward. It took me quite a while get used to the feet under me so much but I made the adjustment.

Good hunting.

I'm glad you mentioned that Dr.D. If the Roadster has an inexpensive option to have it more forward (like an XDiavel or the new Rocket) I'd be fine with a Roadster. I to don't care about the bags or windshield and will only being driving an hour at a time at most. I would like to have a seat and backrest for my kids if they want the short Sunday joyride.

I like to have options for foot placement to stay comfortable while riding. My cruising pegs are set on my crash bars so I can stretch my legs, but still can shift up or down, and use my brake with my boot heels.

have you looked on this forum for bike for sale cause I advertised mine R3 roadster 2012 it has 21 000 miles ( 32 000klm) has 200hp and 174 lbs torque .. and a list of extra two pages long....

Welcome to the site from Australia...……. 6'2'' here, I just got pegs on the crash bars (Roadster) for the real long trips...………. personally hate the forward controls. Get the latest bike/model you can, 2010 up have sorted most of the known problems also ABS equipped came ib then on the roadster.

@quadzilla200 Have you found anything yet? I am an hour north of Omaha if you would like to check out and ride my set up. I am not quite as tall as you, but 6' - 200lbs, I was concerned with the controls as well.
