Yes, you should replace that detent spring - it's cheap insurance. More than likely it's advisable that you replace the primary TPS, upgrade your battery terminal wires to a heavier gauge, clean, re-crimp and dielectric grease the spaded coil connectors and upgrade your OEM ignition with the Esatern Beaver kit - all electrical, I know, but these thjings are more often a question ofd if, not when in terms of their failure and it would be a shame for you to get your new baby all right and tight mechanically, only to contemplate Seppuku/harikiri should any of these, more minor annoyances fail!
