The odyssey begins !

I'LL BET THAT'S IT ! I wonder if I could sue someone ? Do you need a valid reason to sue ?

How many miles do you have on yours now ? My output shaft bearings went at 53,000.
About 65000 miles now Fred stock TPS and everything else apart from what I put on it, with teaching the BRC and ARC classes it has really cut into my riding time plus having four bikes I have to share my arse with all the bikes.

Why would that make me feel better you $#%@headed, &*#$hole ! :D

All kidding aside, the engine is completely farked ? Did the broken motor mount crack up into the cases or something ?
Think lost all the oil and ran dry, don't know, will find out tuesday, glad you feel better:D
Anyway, what have you found in your engine? i see the entire engine in pieces but is all Japanese to me, what broke?

This is the thingy the drive shaft hooks to. It has a bearing on each end. Both bearings came apart and turned into shrapnel !

Got my update kit today, wow what a lotta stuff ! I am now assembling in reverse order . Got the damper installed and the engine all cinched up. Also got the drive shaft. swingarm and rear tire installed. Has anyone ever spun their rear wheel while it was off the ground ? Mine seems to make some mechanical noises in the engine. Like the gears clinking together. No tight spots as I could turn the stub shaft with my hand. Seems like it did that before. I just never paid it any nevermind. I could just be paranoid. Pulled the crank position sensor while it was handy. No metal at all on it. That means the metal grindings probably didn't circulate through the engine much. Got a wedding and reception tomorrow so I probably won't get back to until Sunday. No matter how well a reassembly goes I'm always as nervous as a whore in church.

Dropped the mains ladder and windage tray today. Pretty clean. Just a tiny bit of glitter. Doesn't even show up in the pic.

Next cleaned the pan and pick up screens

Screens were pretty bad

Got the rest of damper housing cleaned out. Once I get the new bearings it's ready to go back together.

How long did it take you to put all those shavings back in the right spot? And did you use JB weld?

When I had all mine up in the air... they all do it... with the shocks off and moving the swing arm up and down you will find the sweet spot.with no noises. Amounts to level riding height.

Fred my final drive went when I was just out of warranty. Workshop manager searched 'every' bulletin and update going back to 2004 from Triumph about the Rockets. Not once did Triumph advise it's Dealers to grease the spline. That was my ammo to claim warranty.. had to jump up and down ( threatened to jump on a plane a discuss it face to face) Triumph Australia agreed to replace it under warranty. Final drives worth $5,000 alone in Oz. Admire you taking on this task and wish you well with the re-assembly mate.

Yup, Triumph really dropped the ball about informing Rocket owners about that vital bit of necessary service and they still don't get it. WTF???

Rocket Scientist, you should change your screen name to Fearless Fred...

Got ti together far enough today to fire the engine. Ran the back wheel. No funny noises and so far no leaks. Only had a few parts left over

Good thing they put in extras ! Should be able to take it for a ride tomorrow.
