If the plenum is supposed to be restrictive, then the intake in the seat must also be. It's pulling air through fairly small channels under the seat and into the filter through the snorkel. However this air is probably cooler than the air under the front of the seat.
 


Ok, Thanks again... I'm going to cross my toes & attempt to load that 20050 this weekend with all intake as is. If that works out I may just get a K&N factory replacement (I know it won't breath any better than stock) for the clean & re-use ability

If you are using the triple filters, or RamAir, or similar attached directly to the throttlebodies, then the snorkel part attached to the bottom of the seat will have no effect on airflow at all. However, I believe that it adds to the structural integrity of the seat, reducing flexing. Unless you have a particular reason to remove it, I would suggest that you leave it on.

Could you not just remove the rubber gasket off the snorkel...Same Effect?

The tune was probably made with a stock seat on the bike. Corbin was the only aftermarket seat at the time and I doubt there were many of those in Oz.
 
It is good to remove the snorkel. It doesn't have anything to do with the seat frame strength. It is part of the intake noise reduction system. Lots of manufacturers use smaller intake openings to reduce the drone. Many of the old time Rocket guys have done this.
 

A 140 up front is a great mod for handling, BUT @TriumPhil is a 130 front tire fella - whiskey tango foxtrot?
