Update Kit Price Gone Wild

Warp "Although I must say after seeing the R3 engine in a quad I thought a 8 wheel Argo would go pretty wild with a 2300 cc engine in her "

I bet the Argo would no longer float with the Rocket engine in it!

@scot in exile : Your wish is my command !

Still don't understand why motorcycle manufacturers use standard open electrical connectors? Weather proof type connectors are a must. Obviously Triumph recognized a problem and included several in the kit (must have been a pile of claims to justify this). My point is, why not just use weatherproof connectors in all their harnesses? Save a bundle on warranty and improve reliability?

Thanks for the parts list. Really appreciated.

Triumph marketing. I recently added heated grips to my new Trophy. The kit price is $250. I went onto the online parts ordering site and noticed that the individual parts were listed. Hmmm, me says. Adding up the individual parts came out to around $100. So with the kit, you're paying $150 for the plastic bag and cardboard box that the kit comes in. Nice. What a bargain.

Reactions: idk
Don't forget that the kit also includes a cheap plastic handlebar mount, a waterproof switch, wiring harness, relay and base. Now if that adds up to the other $150 bucks????

Glad the hand grips are available separately.

"Guilty" as charged. I have 2 of the upgrade kits. And my Rocket is a 2013 !!! I could see the price going up, especially with the rumors of Triumph dropping the Rocket line. I think Triumph screwed themselves, as purchase of the kit, should have required proof of owning a model that needed the kit in the first place. There is a boat load of good usable parts in the kit, no matter what year you own. Spark plugs, plug wires/boots, gas tank sending unit, relays, on and on. WELL worth the $200 original price. I may never need any of these parts, cept for the tune up stuff, but I feel happy just having the kits, "IF" needed.

Phil seems like your informed source was not very informed you can hardly buy the plug wires for $200

As I said in my first post this is the reason why it cost the full price, do not blame people getting it cheap but now it hurts the guys who REALLY need it.

I was really referring to the old, original "update" kits and not to the current "upgrade" kits. I don't remember the former having anything but replacements for bad, OEM, internal mechanical parts. Given the state of my "maturing" memory, I could very well be in error, though.
