Triumph has stood behind my bike 100% even when out of warranty and for that reason I would highly recommend them to anyone.
You know the rules before you buy the bike if you are not happy do not buy it, if you still want to play with it knock your self out but do not come crying when the **** hits the fan.

I agree with you SEx :D Mine was low Kms, 4 years out, thanks to my dealer but he can be a pain sometimes..

Having worked for an OEM for close on 30 years I'm not surprised by Triumphs actions. They will know whats going on out here and they have to cover their arses against a lot of people that think they know better but actually dont. They are making a statement - "don't f**k with our products if you want us to pick up the tab when things go wrong".

Lets face it, playing with the ECU can do a lot of damage and with kit like TuneECU its open to anybody with a modicum of computer knowledge but zero mechanical knowhow.

Once out of warranty you can do what you like - if you cock-up, you pay. Even then they still get the bad press when Joe Public alters something way beyond its design spec, breaks it, and then announces what a crock of **** Triumph's are on every forum they can find .

I've no doubt Triumph have at times been bloody minded about warranties, much the some as plenty of other manufacturers; but I bet that they have been screwed a few times too - swings and roundabouts!

I got the upgrade kit, tortional dampner/output shaft and head gasket all replaced by Triumph, and all while being 18 months out of warranty. And that was with a bike that had a tuneboy tune loaded, triple k&ns and Jardines installed. Though I think a lot does depend on the dealer and the country you are in.

I don't take the latest info as any surprise as I would figure that if I locked up the ECU or put a hole in the piston because of a bad tune I don't expect them to cover it under warranty.

Triumph has been very inconsistent here to say the least. Your experience is exactly the opposite of mine. I can't explain how they take care of one customer over another. Mine started developing problems at 150 miles from new and by 1950 miles it needed the engine taken apart to address transmission issues...twice at two different Triumph dealers. Triumph ran away from this problem to the tune of $3600 out of my pocket for a bike with 2000 original miles and no modifications.

For this reason, I will always NOT recommend any Triumph product...EVER. Good luck with yours. If I can only cost them one sale then I'm very pleased. And the corporate a-hole can KMA. I was never impolite, loud, accusing, demanding..add your own adjective and he still treated me like crap.

On the face of it that is a bad experience and its no wonder you are pissed off. How much help did you get from your dealer - it does seem to make a lot of difference.
