Tuneboy Maps

I'm very new to all this and I'm trying to learn a lot in a short time. Could some one explain( in simple terms ) what the numerical value in the map tables represents? On the advanced option, The difference between the L & F tables?
So far I've stumbling around with this tried a few different maps, have managed to get the bike to go from running like crap, to unridable ,to now running better than it ever has. The exhaust manifold no longer glows like a toaster coil when cruising top gear.
