Transmission questions

It seems like the hydrolock would have shown up when you were turning the engine over to check the valve clearances

I removed the plugs when I righted the engine to check and adjust valve clearances and then re-installed them before installing the engine back in the frame.

Update.......
Seems that 2nd gear issue is still there. I guess I should have taken good advice and sent my shafts w/gears, etc. to Robinson.
Oh well, it's still a really nice ride and the problem only shows up if you get on it real hard in 2nd..
Some lessons are more costly and time consuming than others.
Maybe next winter I will take her apart again and do better. Maybe not...... Time will tell. In the meantime, spring is here and it is time to ride!

I've found that if I aggressively shift from 1st to 2nd, or from 3rd into 2nd, all is good. If I lazily shift, 2nd doesn't engage completely and it momentarily kicks out before engaging. I'm sure that back cutting and polishing would eliminate the problem but I am not willing to go to the trouble and expense right now. It's a problem that I can live with.....for now..
