Transmission questions

Is the problem with your 2013 R3? Did it start gradually over time, or start suddenly? How many miles on your Rocket?
2013 R3T, it did it once or twice…now if I hit high RPM, it has a slip. Only on acceleration, while down shifting it reacts normal. I had other monetary things around the house to take care of, haven’t committed to a fix yet. I short shift, no problem…..:but that SUCKS.

I have ask ask some people mix what they call the output shaft with the torsional damper shaft. I'm just wanting clarification as to which one and how does the front bearing on the torsional damper shaft ? When you look the the front shaft bearing do you see good looking rollers in the bearing ?

Hope not😁

Actually if the bearing is installed backwards you won't see the rollers. And the rollers would not be seeing oil like they should.
If it's original then it stand a better chance at being mounted on the shaft backwards.
This definitely would point to whether it's a updated transmission or original.

Exactly

Here is a link to the short video showing the gear slop that I was talking about.................... 120.45 MB file on MEGA
The audio isn't the best due to my mumble but it is showing me inserting a .026" feeler gauge between the gears.
I checked the bearings on the damper shaft and the output shaft and they are correct and seem fine.
I talked with Bill Robinson this morning and he thought that .010" gear spacing was average but didn't feel that .026 would cause problems.
He thought that there must be some wear on the 2nd gear dog ring teeth or 2nd gear mating surfaces, although it isn't obvious.
I'm still trying to decide if I will send him my shafts or not. Money is tight right now but I don't want to put things back together without being at least fairly confident that the problem will be gone.
